Sixteen Years ago we found the perfect place to raise our children. Now we found the perfect venue to write about the things we love to do especially… hunting.

Like you we have lots of questions about wildlife that we would like answers to. So, we started this blog to share our questions but moreover to share the answers we find in our quest.

Sixteen years ago we bought this ol’ farm. It took a lot of hard work but with the help of our 5 children we whipped it into shape. Nature’s Choice Farms is located in South Central Virginia in Lunenburg County. There may not be much here in the way of traffic, development, large crowds or shopping malls… BUT that is why we stayed.

We are obsessed with animals and farming. We love being on the farm. Now don’t get the idea that we have some mini mansion or some Norman Rockwell image of a farm albiet we think it is pretty darn good.

This is a working Virginia farm and we have our ideas of how things should be grown naturally. A lot of time has been spent in our research to grow the best things possible to eat.. that any farm can grow. INCLUDING OUR WILDLIFE!

Wildlife management is an integral part of our operations here are Nature’s Choice Farms. From strategically growing food plots, to feed the whitetail deer, turkeys, quail, rabbits, squirrels, and doves along with all the other wildlife. To making sure we have salt blocks out in the winter when the bucks need it most for growing their horns.

We don’t fret over the fact a little feed gets spilled when we feed our pasture raised chickens or laying hens. Every morning and evening..when we go out to feed up the dove and quail fly off from eating feed we spilled. Some of the corn in the feed gets spilled on the ground and we let it grow wild. The wildlife along with our domestic animals benefit from our natural ways of farming.

Nothing better on earth than seeing an abundance of wildlife growing on a farm.

While it may seem harsh to non-hunters, harvesting the wildlife on the farm is very important. As important as harvesting the cows, pigs, and chickens. Managing the harvesting of wild game at Nature’s Choice Farms allows us to grow bigger and healthier game for the next generation. Our game is not subject to catching disease that will destroy game in other areas.

We will strive to make it possible for everyone who wants to take a child hunting to have that opportunity. We will do our very best to recommend hunting equipment that we find works for us.
